Road Patrol Statement

It is the mission of the Glades County Road Patrol Division to proactively respond to violations of Florida Criminal Law, enforce Traffic Violations, and provide assistance to citizens when called for service. The Patrol Division is also tasked with all civil service to the community which includes subpoenas, and various court orders. To facilitate a safe learning environment for our youth, the Patrol Division works in conjunction with the Glades County School Board to provide a School Resource Officer. This officer is tasked with assisting the school with day to day security, security at sport’s events in, and out of county along with providing a positive role model to mentor our youth, which is the future of Glades County. The Patrol Division is prepared for the challenges faced in the new millennium, to facilitate this task we have several valuable tools available to our officers.

Our deputies are issued non-lethal devices to assist in apprehension of suspects while limiting both injury to the officer and the suspect. We currently utilize both pepper spray (OC) and a Taser. When in the field every deputy is able to write reports utilizing computer laptops with air cards, these are also connected to the National Crime Information Center which allows the deputy to access all manner of information related to active warrants, traffic stops, and alerts concerning missing or endangered children, adults etc.… These capabilities allow the Division to better serve the citizens of Glades County by being in the communities more, while not sacrificing the importance of prompt intelligence, reports, and the dissemination of important shift to shift information making the deputy in the field a formidable force in relation to crime prevention, apprehension, and as a peacekeeper for our communities.

The Patrol Division performs all of its duties in a professional, courteous, and compassionate manner that reflects the rural, family oriented community that it serves. Glades County is large, demographically the County of Glades encompasses approximately 750 square miles of patrol area including Lake Okeechobee, the Caloosahatchee River, and the US 27 thoroughfare.
